Re: Pfropfversuche mit ACM`s
Paul, english is the first foreign language we learn here. So many people will understand it.
The second best stock for grafting Tuberkel is Astrophytum. Ornatum, myriostigma, capricorne are fine.
For grafting plants you can use a wider spectrum. All common stocks should be fine.
Fero is the best, followed by Harrisia, Myrtillocactus etc.
But that may be differently in your climate as you dont have to deal with our cold winters.
I hope our experts will answer your questions too.

Re: Pfropfversuche mit ACM`s
So, I took some pictures of my A.c-m's... well, the three I have left. I must be doing something wrong. I have had them for about 3 years and they are not as big as I would expect them to be... Although I was not home much the past two years and they were grown very hard! This year I plan on fattening them up a lot. But, do you think I could graft these skinny little tubercles? They are only about as thick as the graphite in a pencil. Maybe a bit thicker. You can even see some tubercles that are either cut off at the base or half way from some failed attempts.
I watered earlier today, but it is mostly inorganic material (pumice, perlite, granite, sand) and just a bit of commercial cactus mix.
Comments Please! Should I graft one of these twiggy little tubercles? Or wait until they get larger?

Re: Pfropfversuche mit ACM`s
Paul, just my opinion:
The plants look nice though not pumped up. That is fine.
Let them grow.
Of course you can graft one to a good stock. But first power them up.
Both sides should be growing.
The tubercles are too thin and hence without power to build a new plant after grafting.
Take a look at the pictures here: Always we used fat tubercles. Though it may
take a year until you see a success. That is something such a thin tubercle is not able to do.
You said you get some seeds. Graft some of the seedlings when they are fresh out of there
shell on Pereskiopsis or Selenicereus.
If you dont have any, just ask Jordi. You will get 20 seeds for 3 Euro (about 4 Dollars).

Re: Pfropfversuche mit ACM`s
Ok, thank you. I will wait on these.
Yes, I had 8 seeds left from last year.
Is the Jordi you are referring Jordi Menzel? That is who I bought these from. Is he on this forum?

Yes, Jordi Menzel. He is here in this forum too.
BTW: They deliver to your home:
I did not understand where this farm is Okeecoochee ???
But not more than 100 miles away - I guess.

Re: Pfropfversuche mit ACM`s
Thanks Torro, I had seen that video before. I think you mean Okeechobee though... It is about 150 miles away, but most of the growers are in South Florida around Miami or south and that is over 300 miles from me. But I have lots of seeds to try

Re: Pfropfversuche mit ACM`s
Paul, a 2 hours drive for a trunk full of cuttings - what a dream.
Yesterday I grafted this 2 year old ACM. The stock, a Pereskiopsis, was week and so is the ACM itself now.
May be, it has a chance.

I have a few plants I can make cuttings from for rootstock More than I can handle at this time.
